YULYA DEMINA

Painter

Education

Graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphics at Kuban State University

«Yulya Demina is in the process of her creative pursuit, as it seems to me, and it doesn’t come from a certain plot. It is more likely, that she begins with the achievement of a certain inner balance and harmony of herself as an author, and only then, she tells the story through a line and a spot; in the end, everything returns to the beginning: the canvas represents the world from the point of view of an individual who has achieved harmony. And, as far as we can see, the world from the point of view of a balanced person is also perfect … Her style of writing tends to leave the lightness and, at the same time, the fullness of the narrative, the line and the color field do not enter into conflict, but coexist peacefully, as a person should do in its relations with the environment. A very limited palette sometimes intersperses with bright flashes –it’s about the inner universe, the precious stone of human consciousness in the boundless ocean of the unconscious».

Daria Totskaya, art critic, curator of modern art exhibitions.

«Yulya Demina deeply explores human nature, the personal evolution of each person, by using symbols and common conventional notations. Her work is like a text that makes you think of what you see in front of you and who you are towards the work in sight. Each installation and painting is like a message with the encrypted sacred meaning, which reveals only while attempting to comprehend it in non-standard and unconventional ways».

Yana Alalykina, art critic.

Motivation letter

«I get the world out though myself»

As an artist, I react to the life of my time, to collective and personal evolution, to the multidimensionality of human life. It is important to go along with the modern environment and at the same time to keep pondering over the eternal.

The art for me is a life itself, studying of limits of human capabilities, boundless overcoming, expansion and growth.

It is important not to be stuck in the usual perception of reality, constantly breaking out of the shell of templates, expanding rational comprehension towards the inner and spiritual. It is about asking the most important and, at the same time, trivial questions in the human history, which all of us are scared to answer, if we answer honestly.

I have a gut goosebumps feeling when I explore new forms, visual, coloristic collaborations, materials, as well as the possibilities of the fundamental principles of form: dots, lines and spots, synchronizing space with images and objects. For me, texture is the skin of my work. The process of creation is the projection of the unconscious into the matter up to a certain point of development, and then there comes the multidimensionality of infinite consciousness …

Abstraction tries by its means to express what is not perceived by our mind, what is not here and what is eternal, what is outside the concept of mind and logic, it studies the borders of pure vision that goes beyond any existing concepts.

An immense pleasure is creating your own schemes, maps of inner growth with developing and tracking the coordinates of the inner points of no return. The latitude of the soul, the longitude of the perceived happiness are the main points of search and research for me. The death of old beliefs is like a head-on collision of the mind with the unconscious without indulging the human desire to self-destruct. When there is no more strength or desire to hide from yourself…

Life in the human body is surprisingly interesting. The body as a kind of hybrid space that connects the material flesh with the activities of an individual and collective conscious and unconscious.

With no development, life turns into a swamp with no circulation of power in it. Life becomes a predictable sequence of streaks of suffering with occasional bursts of joy. The only evolution that truly matters to everyone is the revolution of one’s own spirit. To create your own conceptual perception of the world and bring it out in your own activity, structuring the life flow, leaving here something more than just life at the level of animal instincts, in order to fully play out your human role.

Finding answers to major issues with a mindset that goes beyond one human life is what multidimensional art is. Growth path: seek, learn and create in order to get out of this life happy someday.

«I am everything and everything is me.»

This research is definitely worth devoting a history of mine

Biography

Yulya was born in Germany. Now she lives in the Krasnodar Territory, Russia. She graduated from the Faculty of Art and Graphics at Kuban State University, specialty “Teacher of Fine Arts”. The diploma work touched upon the problems of portraiture in academic painting. Despite the offer to enter a PhD programme, she decided to go in search of her own creative method.

She delved into experiments in the field of modern photography, later used the achievements of this period in her collage works on wood and canvas. She was engaged in design, launched her own clothing line. She returned to experiments in the field of art in 2016, becoming a member and one of the organizers of the Syumkan art group, which became the reason for the further growth and development of the participants. The group took part in several projects, creating voluminous installations, art objects and was the projects organizer itself. The period of deep study of philosophy, psychology and the history of religion by the artist led to abstract art. A series of abstractions, inspired by megaliths and dolmens as sacred structures appeared thanks to searches in the spiritual realm.

She continues to be actively involved in abstraction, activities in the field of psychology and spiritual research.

She also illustrates books and magazines on psychology and metaphysics.

Hobbies: studying classical and experimental psychology, theosophy, philosophy, cosmology, neurosciences, hypnosis, lithotherapy, sleep and lucid dreams, megaliths and ancient buildings, the influence of music on the psyche, quantum physics, bodily practices, Taoist practices …

Her works are in private collections in Russia, Europe, the United Arab Emirates and America.
